This Is Not Bro-Harmony

Hey bros,

I recently came across an article about eHarmony, where the author was trying to analyze why eHarmony has remained financially successful when it appears to have fewer members in its database than more “typical” dating sites do.

(Sorry I didn’t save the link. I tried searching for the article a few days later, but no luck.)

The conclusion that the article came to was that eHarmony demanded that its members have a very high level of commitment to meeting Ms. or Mr. Right: almost a “cult-like” level of commitment. The reasons given for this conclusion were the relatively high membership fees, and the fact that the site’s compatibility profile takes about 18 hours to fill out properly.

By the way, I am neither criticizing nor endorsing eHarmony’s service. My position about them is totally neutral. If you’re reading this, and you’re also thinking about finding someone to marry “soon,” I would simply advise you to do your homework and decide for yourself whether eHarmony is worth the time and expense.

So why am I even talking about this at all? Because potential bro seekers might see a similar article and wonder if seekBromance.com operates in the same way. Relax, guys: it doesn’t.

Do we have membership subscriptions? Yes, but the cost has always been low, and I intend to keep it low so that the membership database can get as large as possible. And yes, that does mean you’ll see ads when you’re logged in and searching the site, but they exist for the sole purpose of keeping those subscription costs low. Without them, I’d have to charge more, it’s as simple as that.

Can you spend 18 hours developing and tweaking your member bro-file? Sure, if you want. But you can put an awesome bro-file up for the members to see in a lot less time than that. If you want some tips, check out this tutorial.

Later,
-The Blog Dude
