U Scared, Bro?

Hey dudes,

As you all know, the purpose of using seekBromance.com is to discover other bros nearby, find out if they have common interests, and most importantly, meet them in person and deciding from there if you want to keep hanging out.

Maybe that last part makes you anxious. Maybe you think it’s too dangerous. Well, using the Internet to meet new people has a little bit in common with surfing: on the ocean, not on the web. If you do it right, it can be one of the most awesome experiences of your life, every time. If you’re careless, it can seriously injure you or kill you.

Fortunately, that’s not something to be afraid of, if you take the necessary precautions. Here’s what you need to do when you want to meet a new person online.

Before the day of the event

  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going, when you will return, and set up a predetermined time to check in with them. Obviously, you don’t want to forget about the last one!
  • Look over earlier messages from the guy. If something he said doesn’t make sense, conflicts with earlier information, or otherwise seems weird, there’s nothing wrong with contacting him and getting an explanation.

Meeting day

  • The place where you meet must be in public, and it must be at a time when many other people are close at hand.
  • Take your own transportation to arrive at and leave the meeting site. Never, ever have the other guy pick you up from your home, your office, or anywhere else.
  • Bring your cell phone so that you can call emergency services or a friend for help if the need arises.
  • Stay sober. Or at least don’t drink enough to dull your alertness. You know your limits.
  • Always keep your personal items – such as your cell phone, your backpack, and so forth – on your person. Don’t leave them unattended.
  • Glance around every few minutes, just to make sure that nothing unusual is going on within the crowd. You don’t need to obsess about this; just keep aware of your surroundings.
  • If anything about the meeting makes you apprehensive, leave immediately. Just get up and walk. No explanation is necessary. Your personal safety is much more important than someone’s opinion of you.

Stay safe, dudes. As you can see, it’s pretty easy.

Happy bromancing!

Later,
-The Blog Dude
