What’s going on with seekBromance.com.

Out from behind the mask

Hey bros,

For the first time in a LONG time, the COVID-19 situation looks pretty good in most of the areas that seekBromance serves. It’s now considered safe enough not to need a mask in most places, if you’re vaccinated. Therefore, it’s likely that meeting new people is okay for you now. Of course, this improvement is fricken fantastic when you’re in search of more friends.

The flip side, however, is the new seekBromance subscription price that’s coming up. You might remember from an earlier blog entry that I announced a pandemic discount, slashing the price from $34.99 to $4.99. At the time, I told you that I couldn’t keep going with that price forever, so now it’s time to go back to the regular rate.

I’m letting you know now so that you can take advantage of my “usual” loophole. The price change goes into effect on April 4, 2022 (that’s 4-4-22!) If you begin a subscription before that date, you can still get the pandemic discount price, above, for as long as you keep your subscription in good standing. If you let it expire, you will have to purchase a new subscription at whatever the current price is.

So mark that date on your calendars, bros, and also remember to mark the entry deadline of 3/22/2202 for the Cool story, Bro! contest.

Happy bromancing!

The ‘Cool Story, Bro’ contest

Hey dudes,

As a lot of you know, the expression “cool story, bro” is meant to be sarcastic. It gets used on guys who just ramble on without adding anything valuable to a conversation. So I’m using this message to announce an effort to turn this sarcasm around, and I’m doing it by showing you original stories from the bros of seekBromance, because I know you all can tell stories that are genuinely cool.

Here’s how it works. Email your story to feedback@seekbromance.com using any common digital format that you choose. It can be plain text, Microsoft Word, Open Office, or you can even point a video camera at yourself and narrate your story on YouTube if you want. I’m going to run the top three stories, one per new post here on the seekBromance blog. The first prize is a free, unlimited contacts subscription for life.

Of course, there have to be a few ground rules, so here they are:

  1. All content must be your own, original work – either fiction or non-fiction. Don’t be a dick and try to claim someone else’s creation as your own.
  2. Keep the length reasonable. There is no firm minimum or maximum, but be aware that most of us bros don’t have time to read an entire novel. Something that you could start and finish during a mid-day break would be about right.
  3. Content should mostly be PG-13. I’m not a prude, but I don’t want to publish pornographic stories. Also, no stories that push a ‘hate speech’ type of message.

The deadline for all entries is March 22, 2022 (which is my closest birthday). And that’s the contest! Good luck, bros.

Update: Pricing will stay the course

In case you’ve been reading some of the earlier posts in this blog, you know that I announced a major price discount to seekBromance subscriptions.

The reason was simple: seekBromance was designed to help bros meet one another in person, and COVID-19 was pretty much destroying that activity. Once things started to reopen, I got excited like everyone else and was getting ready to return to the usual pricing.

Then the Delta variant hit.

So, until the countries that we serve get things to the point where there’s minimal risk to go out and interact with people, I will stay the course with subscription prices. I can’t really guess how soon that will happen, but I promise to make an announcement on this blog way before any rate changes.

Stay safe, bros.

The Bro is back

Hey dudes,

It’s been a while since my last blog post, I know. Don’t worry; I wasn’t sick. Just slammed with a ton of things to take care of with my various other projects. SO – my home state of California is ‘reopening’ today, and so am I.

Naturally, now that a lot of places are letting people meet up again, I’m looking at when to raise the subscription prices back up from Covid-era rates. Meaning that if you are even slightly considering getting a subscription and messaging your bros on the main site, now is the perfect time to take advantage of this service before the rates change again. Oh, and I’m going to honor the old price for as long as you keep your subscription active.

Okay bros, enough with the bureaucracy. Get out there and enjoy the weather.

Happy bromancing!

This Is Big

Hey dudes,

I’m going to get straight to the point: I’m cutting the price of a seekBromance subscription by almost 85%.

In other words, the former subscription price of US $34.99 per month is now US $4.99 month! And you can still get an even bigger break by purchasing a 12-month subscription in advance. So tell me, bros, when was the last time you saw an 85% off sale?

For now, the best way to take advantage of this offer is to go to the website and navigate to My Subscription on the main menu. The new subscription prices will be available here first, and then in the apps.

I’m sure that most of you are wondering why I’m doing this. The answer: COVID-19. Let’s face it, the business model for seekBromance relies a lot on guys meeting each other in person. When that gets much harder to do, it also gets harder to justify the price.

Is this “Covid Special” going to last forever? No. The truth is, it can’t. When the restrictions on gatherings are lifted after there’s a vaccine, the price will need to go up again. But we will honor all subscriptions made at the sale price until they expire.

Happy (remote) Bromancing!

New Facebook Ad for SeekBromance

Hello my dudes,

Normally I wouldn’t bother talking about our ad campaigns, because we use them to attract new members, while most of you reading this are already members, or at least familiar with seekBromance.com.

However, I thought you guys would get a kick out of our new photo that we’re using in Facebook. Here’s an example of how the ad generally shows up:

Okay, more substantial stuff next time. I promise.

Making the seekBromance Blog a Better Place

Hey bros,

I’m adding a new feature and a new type of content for your convenience and your enlightenment.

First, the seekBromance blog posts have now been assigned categories, making it easier for you to find the posts about stuff you actually want to read when you get here. The new categories are:

  • Reviews of Bro Gear – more about this below
  • Site News – what’s happening with both this blog and the main site
  • Tips and Tricks – all about finding bros and being a better bro

A few posts that don’t fit easily into any of the above are still marked as “uncategorized,” but you can still search for them as a group, in addition to all the categories above.

Now for the second part of the announcement: the Reviews of Bro Gear.

This post category will look at products that a bro often buys, and we’ll offer our editorial opinions about which ones have the best quality, most value for the price, and similar info that you’ll find when you’re looking for online reviews.

If you hate reading this kind of thing, don’t panic! There will still be plenty of posts in the news and in the Tips and Tricks category, I promise. But let’s face it, dude: we’re all in the market for something at one time or another. And it’s nice to have opinions from a community you already know.

May the fourth be with you!

Help the Bro-prietor Out

Hey dudes,

From the time seekBromance began, I swore that I would never publish a request like this. Of course, nobody ever expected a set of events like these.

You’re probably familiar with all the social conditioning that most boys get, that we’re supposed to be big, tough, self-sufficient MEN who never ask for help with anything. And this social conditioning affected me, too, back in the day, but now I understand that, in reality, there are times when it’s totally appropriate to ask for help.

Bear with me, bros; I’m getting to the point.

Maybe you’ve seen news articles about how hard this pandemic has hit a lot of small businesses. It turns out that seekBromance.com is no exception. People are now super cautious about spending money on anything except for things they absolutely need, today. A subscription, as valuable as it can be in your life, is still not an urgent necessity. I totally get that.

On the bright side, I’m glad that I’ve been able to give so many of you a little distraction when you need it most. Almost everything that guys can do with seekBromance they can do for free. But even free stuff costs me a little money. The hosting, the email lists, the cybersecurity: there are a lot of recurring charges to deal with.

Not to mention, the mission of seekBromance has always been to become the internet’s largest database of guys looking for more guy friends. The only way to get there is to keep advertising almost continuously, and that’s not cheap either.

I’m not giving up, because it’s not in my nature to give up. However, I do have an ask.

If you’ve been enjoying your membership on seekBromance, I’d like you to show your support by purchasing a monthly subscription, or even a yearly subscription. Or, if you think that messaging other bros on the site is not for you, but you still like the rest of what you’ve seen, you might want to consider a small donation. Every penny I collect through this drive will go directly to the site’s expenses, I promise you that.

Happy virtual bromancing, guys!

An Important Update about Coronavirus by seekBromance.com

Hey bros,

seekBromance.om takes the health and safety of our members very seriously. Now it’s even more top of mind amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). We are here to serve you, and we want to share information with you about staying safe.

Steps you can take

  • Don’t set up an in-person meeting if you’re sick, or if the bro you’re talking to is sick. Yes, it’s okay to ask.
  • Get into the habit of putting your inner elbow in front of your mouth if you cough or sneeze. Some people might freak out if you cough or sneeze on your hands when you’re in public.
  • Keep sanitary wipes with you, and clean off the part of a table where you might be putting down a beer, some food, or your hands.
  • Remember that this is temporary. There will be a vaccine in about a year, and by then people are likely to return to their old habits.

We place a high priority on keeping seekBromance members safe and well-informed while doing what we can to help minimize potential spread of the coronavirus.

Happy bromancing, and stay healthy!
